This new Jesse McCartney album is going to be on repeat for a while. The production is amazing and his vocals on The Other Guy are solid! So happy with the direction he took his music in. Very Prince/MJ inspired. Even some 90’s R&B coming with the harmonies and chord progressions. LOVE.
Forget everything you know about Jesse McCartney and his previous work because his new album will make you see him in a new light or perhaps better suited, in technicolor. Haha. See what I did there.
Now, the first thing many people would automatically do is compare Jesse’s album to JT’s 20/20 albums. While, yes, it is plain to see and hear why, let’s not do that. Reason being, this is not the kind of music you typically get from Mr. McCartney and now that we have, I, at least, want to hear more of it.
Being absent from the music scene for awhile, Jesse did not go the typical straight laced techno filled pop route with a feature from today’s hottest rapper, that many artists do to stay current with the times. Instead, McCartney decided for his fourth studio album, to create music similar to what he loves listening to. Which he has done wonderfully. “In Technicolor” is filled with the synth pop, R&B, and Soul music reminiscent of the late 70s and 80s with a twist of contemporary. It’s everything you didn’t know you wanted and is the perfect soundtrack to fill your summer days and nights.
In technicolor is the beautiful soul departure from right where you want me. Does that make sense? No. Well, Jesse’s latest album will when you buy it.
